From idea to market success
Every year more than 40,000 businesses are set up in Austria, mostly small and medium-sized enterprises. Each new entrepreneur makes an important contribution to the future of Austria’s economy, bringing new growth, new jobs and – particularly in the start-up sector – new ideas.
At the heart of any successful business venture is a good idea.
The Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) acts as a one-stop shop for industry-related research, supporting young entrepreneurs in developing, implementing and establishing their ideas. FFG is offering targeted and coordinated funding schemes and services to help turn these ideas into successful products and services.
The FFG is the largest provider of start-up funding in Austria. Each year it invests over 100 million euros in supporting new ideas.
What counts as a start-up?
- small and medium-sized enterprises (SME),
- whose foundation at the beginning of the R&D project does not date back more than 5 years (date of first entry in the Company Register),
- which are newly established and technology-oriented enterprises (no restructurings, mergers or similar)
